Who says that you can't have brains and beauty? Model Lyndsey Scott proves and exudes both as she is both a model and techie. Lyndsey did an interivew with Pando.com which she happily talks about her career and working as a app developer.
Scott has walked for international brands such as Prada, Louis Vuitton,Gucci, and Victoria Secret, while programming for developing seven apps and two of her apps are on the Apple platform. Many stereotypes exist that models tend to be "not smart," but Lyndsey proves them wrong. She says she has have some agencies tell her she needs to be "cooler."
Lyndsey graduated from Amherst in 2006 with a double major in Theater and Computer Science. She hit the big time when she pursued modeling and became the first African-American woman to recieve an exclusive contract for Calvin Klein. Lyndsey doesn't cross promote her occupations as she says the industry makes an effort to reduce the model…to simplify things.
She has created an app for models to upload their model books instead of having a paperbook. She adds she needed it because paperbooks tend to tear and fall apart and Apple presents an organized format in contrast to the paperbook.
Lyndsey continued to say in the interview that she was up one night coding and in a Q & A on Quora question, answering her first ever. She says someone posed the question "What does it feel like to go from physically unattractive to physically attractive? She answered the question and included a photo of herself at a younger age and a photo of herself getting prepared for the Victoria Secret Fashion Show. She answered the question by stating:
[I]t’s been a rather jarring experience having people see and treat me the way they suddenly do now. I was bullied and often friendless throughout puberty because people automatically judged me…The difference between then and now though is that back then, they wouldn’t give me the chance to show them that I was kinda cool, and now they readily give me a chance…and are then often disappointed that I’m kind of a nerd.
Her post went viral and she got press on Slate.com Lyndsey say its truly her "secret double life." Her new agent, Tony Vavroch, gives her the freedom to express her nerdy side saying:
“Anything which adds dimension to a model beyond her physical beauty is a good thing,” Vavroch says. “Physical beauty gets a model’s foot in the door but her personality, combined with other gifts and abilities, makes her more interesting to advertisers and fashion and beauty clients.”
