Jordin Sparks V MAGAZINE Remembering WHITNEY HOUSTON

Jordin Sparks V MAGAZINE Remembering WHITNEY HOUSTON

Jordin Sparks will be in V Magazine's issue and she has a poignant interview in which she remember Whitney Houston.  The star who co-starred with Whitney, in the up-and-coming movie Sparkle talked to the mag about the time she spent with the legendary with the legendary singer and getting to know her before her death.

Part musical, part cautionary tale, the movie tells the story of three sisters, Sparkle, Delores (Tika Sumpter) and Sister (Carmen Ejogo), whose successful Motown singing act disintegrates in the face of drug addiction and familial strife. Originally Houston had signed on solely as exectutive producer, but eventually agreed to also play the girls’ mother, Emma. “I think she was hesitant at first, and then she said, ‘Yeah, I really want to do that,” says Sparks.

On set in Detroit at the first table read, Sparks, who has d worshiped the pop star since childhood, was appropriately tongue-tied. “She walked in and I was like, ‘This. Is. Awesome.’” But over time the two women grew close, bonding over a slavish devotion to the craft-services table and a near constant habit of singing under their breath. “One day, actually, she was walking behind me and singing ‘I Have Nothing,’” recalls Sparks. “And then she reached out and said, ‘I forgot I sang that. I was annoyed that day and just didn’t ant to do it. We ended up doing it in three takes!’”

When Houston died unexpectedly in February, Sparks (who attended her memorial service) was grief-stricken. “She was always so full of light,” she says, choking back tears . “Every day… she would open the door and ask, ‘How are my babies this morning? Are my babies good? God is good. Praise the Lord.’”

Still Sparks has no illusions about the demons that plagued her late costar (and, ironically, some of the films characters). “I can see how people can fall and people can flip or they can just get in with the wrong crowd.”

The movie will debut August 17, 2012

Essence Magazine pays tribute to Whitney Houston in their April 2012 edition.  In the edition they talk about her rise to fame and how she influenced younger performers such as Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys.  There are photos and messages from friends and family.  This is one of many magazines who have paid homage to the late singer who passed on February 11, 2012.

Some other rumors and allegations surfaced such as her supposedly having a year long affair with Jermaine Jackson in 1984.  Sources say she also dedicated the song 'Saving All My Love For You' to Jermaine.

Jermaine is said to have hinted at his feelings for her in his book,  You Are Not Alone Michael:  Through a Brother's Eyes.   He wrote:

"As much as I wanted to lose myself in all these feelings, I told her to wait. Ultimately, we had to go our separate ways and it killed us both."

He is also to have said Michael warned him off having an affair and reminded him of Hazel and family.

The Movie Sparkle Headed For Fast Release

The Movie Sparkle Headed For Fast Release

Whitney Houston's last on-screen performance, 'Sparkle', is in the editing phase and and TMZ reported that  Sony Studios is trying to make sure that nothing gets leaked..  The movie may also be getting an earlier release date than August 17, 2012 and reports are surfacing that they may release it as early as May 2012.

This was supposed to be a part of Whitney's big comeback along with making an album, which was also being worked on by the singer.  Whitney is getting rave reviews of her performance from other costars of the movie.  Jordin Sparks talked about working with Whitney this past week at the Essence Luncheon:

'The first day she got [to the set] she’s scolding me, and I’m thinking, this is the best day ever,” she said of their time on Sparkle. “She went from being this unreachable supernova pop star to my costar, friend and someone who was like a mentor to me. It was a gift and an honor to play opposite Whitney Houston in the film.”

Co-Star Derek Luke reflected on Whitney Houston's performance in 'Sparkle' at the Independent Spirit Awards:

"The beautiful thing about being in 'Sparkle' is that we had something that was recorded that I can hold onto, and in that time, me and my wife and Whitney … the other cast, we really bonded," he shared. "Whitney did an amazing job, so I can't wait for people to see it and there's no great way to go out, but what a performance she had."

'Sparkle' was set to originally begin filming in 2001 with Aaliyah starring in the movie but the singer's untimely death put a hold on to production of the movie at the time.   In an interview with The Insider back in November 2011, Whitney said:

About Aaliyah: 'God has his own time…and I have to put it in that perspective".  She continued, "Aaliyah was absolutely perfect..and we were gonna do this thing…and then {it} just happened". " Very sad and very memorable moment for me."  "I remember crying fiercely and profusely".

She went on to say that it plagued her for 10 years  and she knew when the time was right, it would come back together.  She said American Idol alum Jordin Sparks was 'perfect'.

The movie loosely based on the singing group 'The Supreme's.  Some have even said that Whitney's performance was so good that she could get an Oscar nod!

Shock Over National Enquirer’s Whitney Houston Death Photo

Shock Over National Enquirer's Whitney Houston Death Photo

It has been outrage since it has been revealed that the National Enquirer will publish a photo of Whitney Houston in her coffin.  She is said to be wearing her "favorite" purple dress and jewelry worth $500,000 dollars.  This has sparked a fierce debate about the morality of the media and  having respect for the deceased.

Fans have commented on Twitter and Facebook in outrage over the pictures and leaving many asking, how did they get the photo and who was the one who took it and sold it to the publication.  Celebs have weighed in on it:

"MADD at who ever sold Whitney Houston's pic of her in a casket," reality star Evelyn Lozada, from VH1's "Basketball Wives," wrote on Twitter.

Perez Hilton said "tasteless, insensitive, morbid thing to do'.

This isn't the first time the magazine has done something like this.  In 1977, the magazine published a photo of Elvis in his coffin, which ended up selling 6 million copies.  A cousin of Elvis sold it to the magazine for $18,000 dollars.

All of this emerges as Bobbi Kristina continues to cope wit the loss of her mother.  She is said to be staying in Atlanta in a townhouse her mother and she shared.  She is said to be under the strict watch of Warren Boyd, an extreme interventionist.  Family says she is taking it day by day and "doing ok".

Rest-In-Peace

Whitney Houston Teen Model Photos

Whitney Houston Teen Model Photos

Taking a look back at Whitney's life, you may not have known but Whitney started out as a model.  Her thin frame, good looks,  and pretty smile made for a great model.  You would never think that her ending would be so tragic when you look at these photos.  Above, Whitney models in a pink/white ensemble splashing around in sparkling water.

A fashion editor who worked with Whitney, at the time of her modeling career, took the time out to talk about working with Whitney during her modeling days:

Anytime we were booking models for a photo shoot, we would always say, "Let's book Whitney," "See if Whitney is available," "Whitney would be great for this story".  She continued, "She was nevr a diva and she was always professional.' 'She showed up on time and made our jobs easier by doing her best in front of the camera.' 'She never complained if days rans long and cheerfully did whatever was expected."

Whitney ended up getting the cover for Seventeen Magazine.  She was not the first black model to grace the cover, but at this time, it still wasn't common to see African-American models on the cover.  The singer would two years later go on to release her first album with Arista Records in 1985.  Her self-titled debut went on to sell 25 million copies.

From then on she went on to have a successful career winning numerous awards.  She married Bobby Brown and this is when the tides for a career took a turn for the worst.  There were rumors of heavy drug use, erratic behavior and abuse from Bobby Brown.

After her death, Radaronline is reporting that Bobby Brown is trying to shop a tell-all book about the singer's life.  They are also reporting that the singer may have died from a mixture of Valium, Xanax, and alcohol.  May she rest in peace.
