You may view the picture above and think…how disgusting! Well, people that suffer with Hidradenitis Suppurativa feel that way about themselves everyday. When I first started having symptoms of the disease, I did not know what was wrong with me. All I knew is that I would get these boil like lumps under my arms that hurt so bad I could hardly move. Then once they came to a head, just like a boil, it would burst, leaving foul smelling liquid oozing from my arm pits.
I know many reading the article don't even know what Hidradenitis Suppurativa is, neither did I until I got a diagnoses. By definition, it is Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) appears as pimple-like bumps on the skin. The difference is pimple-like bump/bumps usually develop in places that normal pimples don't. HS usually rears it ugly head in the groin or the underarms. If the bump grows larger, which happens nine times out of ten, it is then accompanied by pain. Once the bumps come to a head, that is when they burst and you are left with foul-smelling odor illuminating from your body. Adding more insult to injury, you may began to stress because you begin thinking could other people smell the foul odor if they were around.
I have dealt with this nasty issue for many years now. I have tried everything out there that claims to help. I have been successful with some of the things I have tried and not so much with others. My main issue is the products that I tried that seemed to help normally stopped working after about 30 days. Not only that, most of them cost me around $50.00 for a 2oz jar of the product. I had given up on being HS free from more than 30 days until I paid a visit to a small little town in Alabama. I met this beautiful young lady named Kayla. She was at a local event in the area introducing her new business, Kaylas Kurlz. As I was going to the different tables at the event, I thought I would stop and talk to her even though I did not need hair care products. When I asked about her product line, she was very sweet and knowledgeable about the natural, organic, wild-crafted product field. I was even more surprised that she was only 14 years old.
As we talked about why she started her business, I was very moved. She told me the story of her grandmother she never knew because she passed on years before she was born. What makes the story even more moving is that her grandmother passed away due to cancer. She started her business because she wanted to make people aware that what they put on their bodies is just as important as what they put in their bodies. I noticed that her product line was not just for hair care. I saw a product called Gracious Green and proceeded to ask what it is used for. The budding entrepreneur told me that she and her brother have eczema and a cousin that suffers with HS. My heart stop in that moment! I thought… by HS does she mean Hidradenitis Suppurativa? At first I was ashamed to ask, but I thought how could I not! There I was, an adult trying to muster up the courage to ask a young adult a simple question. Once I did, she was more than happy to tell me that HS was Hidradenitis Suppurativa. She explained that if I knew someone that had it, she would explain how her family member uses it to treat their HS.
Even though I was embarrassed, I told her that I indeed suffer from HS. Kayla just gave me a sweet smile and began to give me information about HS. She told me that her cousin suffers with HS and that is what made her do the research on the disease so she could try to come up with a product that could help. After explaining who, what, where, when, and why, she told me how to use her product for HS. She told me that first, always do a skin test to make sure I was not allergic to any ingredients. She said even though her ingredients are all natural, organic, and wild-crafted, you still can still have an allergy to plants and other things that grow naturally in the wild. Kayla gave me a jar to open so that I could see what the product looked like. When I first opened it, I thought, what is this and why is it green? However, she was ready for that question as she stated that is the first question she receives about the Gracious Green. Then she told me that it is green because it is a plant based formula. As I stated before, this young lady knows her stuff!
She told me if I purchased some of her Gracious Green to never use it on HS if the wound/wounds are open. Then she said to use it at least once a day and twice a day if I felt any HS boils trying grow. My last question was how much does it cost? She smiled and said the price is $50.00. At that moment, I thought, why not, I was paying $48.00 for 2oz of product from another company. As I reached into my bag and stood there with the $50.00 in my hand, Kayla had already placed a jar in a bag. She gave me the bag and told me that she wanted me to get better and she was giving me my first jar free. I stood for a moment, then with tear sin my eyes, I went around the table and gave her a big hug. It has been three months since I first started using the Gracious Green and I am glad to say, I have not had any horrible episodes to date. Yes, during the past 3 months I have had HS boils try to attack. However, I followed the instructions given to me and not one single boil has gotten large enough to cause me any pain. Also, I have not had to worry about any foul odor.
I am not saying Gracious Green will work for everybody as Kayla made that very clear, but what do you have to lose. I shared my story because I went to order my fourth jar today and she has it on sale for 50% off. So, I want to share that information so others that suffer from HS can try the wonderful product. Her site is www.kaylaskurlz.com once you enter the site click shop and you will find it. (I received no compensation by talking about this….it's purely my experience with this product)
